TRADITIONS:
Wyatt Acres was originally farm land. Owned and farmed by Buster Wyatt Sr. In the 1950's Buster decided to give back to his community of Lawton by creating an upscale, quiet, friendly and beautiful neighborhood for people to live and raise their families. This area of the neighborhood is known today as "Traditions." Traditions is located at the North side of the neighborhood and includes the main entrance into Wyatt Acres located by the branch library. Traditions' spacious lots, charming details and large Oak Trees makes it appealing to many people. A common trend now is to purchase a Wyatt Acres Traditions home and remodel. This updates the home and increases the value.
The branch library originally served as the main office for Wyatt Development. No longer being used, Todd and Mitchell donated the office to the Lawton Public Library. The branch was named after their grandmother, Kathleen (Kate) Wyatt Nicholson. Many Wyatt Acres residents enjoy the convenient location and visit frequently.
With the help of his son, Buster Wyatt, Jr., Buster broke ground in 1957, building the first Wyatt Acres home, Swiss Chalet, on the corner of Grensted and Stonegate. He and his wife, Kate, lived in this home as he built several of the surrounding homes nearby until his death in 1971.
Just past Traditions is a large spacious practice field. These five acres were purchased by LPS in the 1960's for a possible future elementary school but is currently used for elementary sport practices throughout the year. The past several years the field has been used for an egg hunt the day before Easter. Hundreds of kids gather to hunt eggs. (Egg hunt hosted by NewHaven Church).
TRADITIONS WEST:
After Buster's death, his wife remarried and continued to develop the area. She added four more streets, forming Traditions West. Traditions West has an additional entrance off of 82nd Street.
In the 1980's, Kate extended the neighborhood farther south creating Part 8, West End. This extended Micklegate, including two full streets and two cul de sacs. She bought her second Wyatt Acres home in this area and lived there until she passed in 1995. Todd and Mitchell Wyatt, Kate and Buster's grandsons, also built their first personal homes in West End in 1990.
Also sitting between Traditions West and West End, is one of Lawton's Fire Department Stations. This is another amazing asset Wyatt Acres has to offer its residents.
In the 1990's, part 9 and 10, "Crossings," was developed. Crossings is the heart of the neighborhood. It has easy access to Willow Creek, LPS practice field, Willow Creek Park and streets which run to all extensions of the neighborhood.
CORNER STONE:
Todd and Mitchell Wyatt then opened Part 11 on the corner 82nd and Cache Road. This addition includes four streets, and what makes this addition unique is that it does not have a connecting street into the rest of Wyatt Acres. This addition is labeled today as "Corner Stone." Corner Stone has two separate entrances, making it easily accessible to Cache Road and 82nd Street.
LAKE SIDE:
Todd and Mitchell had dreams of building a lake for the neighborhood. In Spring of 2002, they moved into their lake homes on Wyatt Lake Drive in the Part 12, "Lake Side" addition. One side of the Wyatt Lake Drive enjoys the beautiful lake view and the southwest side has no houses behind them, viewing twenty acres of spacious field and the beautiful creek trees. This area includes two streets ending in cul de sacs and one street connecting to Woodland Drive. Just a half mile down Woodland Drive is the Great Expectations model school, Woodland Hills Elementary.

WYATT VILLAGE:
In 2004, Todd and Mitchell knew that someday they would need more land to continue on the tradition of excellence from their grandfather. They purchased more farmland just south of Wyatt Acres off of 82nd Street and named the new area "Wyatt Village." More streets are planning to be developed in this area over the next several years.
CREEKSIDE:
Part 14 and 15 consists of six streets, one of which has lake side homes. Part 16 is scheduled to open Summer 2015. This will extend Taylor's Landing and add one more street . This is the only area in Wyatt Acres offering "tree lots," with the creek as the backyard, making this area "Creekside." Creekside is the second main entrance into Wyatt Acres located off of 82nd Street. Part 15 and 16 have open access to the West side of Wyatt Lake. Many Wyatt Acres families enjoy feeding the ducks, geese and swans.
Future Plans:
THE MEADOW:
Big plans are still in store for Wyatt Acres Development. Behind the South side of Wyatt Lake Drive lies twenty acres of flood land. Unable to build homes in this location, Todd and Mitchell have decided to make use of this land and develop "The Meadow." This includes a walking track, pavilions and play area for Wyatt Acres families. This is ideal for those who love the access to open spaces without the hassle of upkeep. It is the perfect spot to bring your family for a walk along the creek trees, have a picnic and play on the swing set.The entrance for The Meadow is at the southwest end of Wyatt Lake Drive.
COTTAGES:
Also in the near future are plans for the Wyatt Acres South Haven Cottages. This area is located South of the creek, and the main entrance for this area will be off of Gore Blvd. This is a gated community including a night time guard, work out facility, activities center, hair salon, yard service, garden plots and easy access to The Meadow. The Cottages are geared for ages fifty and older. Cottages will range in cost between $175,000-$220,000.
CONVENIENCE:
Less than a mile away is one of the city's newest shopping centers, Lawton Marketplace. This makes it quick and easy to get to stores such as Target, Academy and Beauty Brands.
